Our Mission

SpotOn™, an initiative of The Ohio State University, supports PreK-12 teachers, administrators, and content decision-makers in the evaluation and selection of those digital resources that best meet their instructional requirements and the learning needs of their students.

The SpotOn Digital Resource Evaluation Rubric is the foundation of our educator support. We train educators to apply the rubric to the evaluation and selection of digital content, which empowers them to become digital leaders in their schools. Through our website and digital resource reviews, we reach educators in a different way—no matter where they are in their digital transformation or content selection process, we help them find the right digital content for their students.

Resource & Curriculum Evaluation Support

The SpotOnReviews.org database may not feature every resource your curriculum committee is considering or the specs your technical director requires. SpotOn’s custom support services combine our rubric-based evaluations with information tailored to your needs. We will pinpoint what is important to you, deploy our team of in-house educational experts to collect this data, and provide you with a printable or shareable report that reflects your unique priorities. Let us put the legwork into helping your district verify which resources are the right fit.

All support packages include an initial consultation and one SpotOn Evaluation Report per resource. The evaluation process combines product information research with SpotOn’s editorial process (multiple independent reviewers, inter-rater agreement assurance, review unification, and copy editing).

Choose from packages of:

  • Non-Core, Core and/or Adaptive
  • Games and or Units
  • Apps, Learning Objects, and/or Lessons

Materials may be reviewed by SpotOn’s Digital Review Specialists or your own educators who have been trained to use the SpotOn Rubric.

SpotOn Digital Resource Evaluation Training Packages

SpotOn training is built on the SpotOn Rubric, developed by researchers at The Ohio State University. Educators who have been trained on the SpotOn Rubric report increased confidence in selecting and using digital resources in the classroom and show improved TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge) scores. SpotOn offers three training package options, which differ primarily in the amount of personalized contact your educators will have with our Learning Coaches. All packages can be customized to meet the needs of your school or district.
